Fall 2016 Beauty Picks

Beauty picks for Fall, 2016

Hair Care:

I've been eliminating as many toxins as possible from my beauty and skin care routine, and have tried many hair care products in my search to find a clean option that delivers salon results.  I have finally found the holy grail!

Desert Essence shampoos and conditioners are fantastic, great smelling products that lather and condition just like salon hair care, but unlike most other shampoos and conditioners, these products contain no parabens, sodium laureth sulfate, phthalates, phosphates, silicones, artificial or petroleum-based ingredients.  Plus, the products are not tested on animals, and many of the ingredients are organic. (The red raspberry shampoo and conditioner are all organic!)

Hair by Desert Essence!

I love that the line has something for every hair type, too.  Best of all: there is no weighty, oily feeling that comes from many other all-natural brands.

The company is dedicated to social as well as environmental responsibility.  Here is an exerpt from their company page:

WE BELIEVE GOOD BUSINESS MEANS BUILDING A BETTER WORLD

We define success not just by financial performance, but by how we help beautify our world.  As a company centered around making a difference since 1978, we are proud to be a certified B-Corp Corporation.  B Corps meet the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, public transparency and legal accountability.  They inspire all businesses to compete not only to be the best in the world, but the best for the world.

Sounds great, right?

While I love all of the versions, my favorites are the coconut shampoo and conditioner.  You can't believe how great your hair smells after using them:

Lip Gloss:

Back in the early 00s, Fusion Beauty created quite a sensation with their revolutionary lip plumper gloss LipFusion.  Finally, there was a plumper that didn't make you feel like your mouth had been stung by a thousand bees, or painted with cayenne peppers.  LipFusion WORKED.  Lips looked fuller, healthier and more kissable thanks to a new cosmetic technology involving micro collagen spheres that painlessly plumped up the surface of your lips upon application.

This was my go-to gloss for years!  And then ... poof.  It was no longer available.  Google told me that the company had gotten into some financial trouble, possibly involving shenanigans of a high-level official.  Needless to say, I bought all the gloss I could find on Overstock, and mourned the loss of a favorite beauty product.

I don't know what happened, but someone saved the company, began production again, and now Fusion is back with the same great gloss as ever.  (They also have some new products I'd like to try.) I was dubious that my favorite lip gloss could possibly be back and made with the same formula, but I'm happy to report that it's the exact same wonderful product I loved for years.

LipFusion XL is the one I use every day:

I also love the sheer colored glosses.  This one is my favorite:
